Meet the Team
Andrea Duguid
St. John's, Newfoundland
Hi my name is Andrea and I’m a mother to two amazing children. I was raised and live in the beautiful city of St. John’s Newfoundland. I love to run! I started running at a young age and developed a huge love of endurance exercise. I completed my 24th marathon this year in Ottawa and have completed some of the majors with Boston, New York and Chicago hitting my list. I ventured into trail running and ultras about 6 years ago. I love the beautiful trails we have here in our province - I may not be the fastest on the trails but I do enjoy the fantastic views and friendships along the way. I am also a very active member in the triathlon community here in the province and a member of TriAvalon Tri club. I help promote and help others with learning the sport and setting up events to help along the way. I started with my first sprint about 4 years ago and completed my first full Ironman in California this past fall. It was amazing! love to help others train and watch them succeed in all their goals as well as completing mine along the way.

I am Garett Landry, a husband with three sons. I’m a maintenance worker at a golf course and… I love to run!
Last year I became a Boston Marathon qualifier, and I completed the Canadian Death Race in Grande Cache Alberta. My future goals include running a 100 mile ultramarathon, and running in the six major marathons of the world. I believe in myself and am always up for trying a new running challenge! Fun Fact: I find open water every month of the year to go for a swim.
Nicole Leger
Cornwall, Prince Edward Island
Instagram: @nlnicole2424
My name is Nicole. I was born and raised on the rich and beautiful soil of Prince Edward Island. I spent most of my time playing outside and hiking with my parents growing up. I believe this to be fundamental as to why I love the outdoors as an adult, and why I consider myself an outdoor enthusiast. My main sport is trail running. I found my love for trail running while living overseas in New Zealand, where I am also a permanent resident. New Zealand is where I first stepped my toes into the world of ultra running, which followed me back home to Canada in 2022. I am hoping to pursue a career in Social Work and want to help people live their best lives both physically, mentally and emotionally. If I could describe myself in one word it would be authentic. I strive to be authentic in everything I do and hope to share parts of my journey with those around me in hopes of inspiring others to get out there and be their best authentic self both on and off the trails! Bless.

I've always enjoyed the adventure. From group athletics as a kid, to cycling, then triathlons and running as an adult, I enjoy being active and fit. I also enjoy sharing love for sport and I am an active board member of the BLT Runners run club, the Maritime Association of Harness Dog Sports, as well as a coach for adult runners of all types. I enjoy running on the streets and trails and hanging out with my amazing wife and chihuahuas. As a race director of charity race events, I love doing my part to give back.
Mike MacInnis
North Sydney, Nova Scotia
Born and raised in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. I have always found myself outdoors from the time I was a child but now as an adult, I understand the importance of being in nature and reconnecting with our roots. When I am not working at Marine Atlantic you will usually find me somewhere in the woods. I consider myself very fortunate to have beautiful Cape Breton as my playground to explore. Whether it's chasing waterfalls, hiking, camping, or kayaking, I love staying active and encourage others to do so as well. My motto has always been, Keep exploring, keep moving and stay young!
Alex MacLean
Halifax Nova Scotia
Alex's love for the outdoors originates from growing up on a small sheep farm in Cape Breton, where he spent hours on end outside. After climbing intently for several years, followed by a brief dabble in ultra running, he's now having a go at bikepacking and endurance cycling. When he gets the chance, he loves to combine a variety of passions for multi-sport adventures. With an emphasis on keeping things lighthearted and fun, he's often dreaming up backyard adventures that take place a stone's throw from his back door.
Mark McColgan
Rothesay, New Brunswick
Born and raised in Rothesay, New Brunswick, Mark has spent over 25 years exploring the region's trails. His journey began with mountain biking but transitioned to trail running in 2016. Since then, he has completed several ultra-marathons, fueling a profound passion for the sport, and especially for the community.
In 2020, now deeply engaged in the trail running community, Mark started Saint John Trail Running (SJTR) to help inspire active living (in the height of the pandemic) and to connect fellow trail runners. Since then, SJTR has grown into one of the largest trail running communities in Atlantic Canada with over 20,000 website visits each year, 4,400+ Facebook members, and more than 2,400 Instagram followers. Through this community, members have collectively donated over $20,000 to local charities, showcasing Mark's dedication to giving back.
As the Race Director for five local trail races in Saint John and Sussex, Mark has played a key role in elevating two of these events to become the largest trail races in the Maritimes. Looking ahead, he is focused on motivating others to get active and helping them achieve goals they never thought possible. Mark takes immense pride in the vibrant community of athletes he has nurtured and the positive impact they continue to make in the region.
Carolane Pitre
Dartmouth, Nova Scotia
Instagram: @carolanepitre
Carolane has been fairly active since as long as she remembers. She first started as a competitive swimmer, then incorporated running and cycling to become a triathlete. She started ultra trail running in 2022. However, she had a major setback after a cycling accident. From running 150km weekly to not being able to walk 500m, it took her a lot of hard work and resilience to get back to where she was. Less than 18 months after the accident, she ran a personal best at Boston Marathon and qualified to the World Championship during her first ironman. She now wants to motivate as many people as she can by letting them know that no dream is too big with hard work and dedication.
Angelise States
St. John's, Newfoundland
My name is Ange and I live in St. John's, Newfoundland! I started running ~10 years ago because I thought it would be the easiest way to become active. "Easy" was definitely an understatement and I was HORRIBLE at running when I started. I couldn't run more than 3 minutes without having to stop and walk. But... the more I tried, the more I realized that it didn't matter how long it took me to do a run, the point was that I did it! In 2023, I started Mile One Run Club. It's a free, social running club where everyone goes at their own pace (running and walking). The goal of the club is to make running more accessible, inclusive, and FUN! I really love using movement to build communities like this. I also teach spin and row classes at Studio VERSŌ in St. John's!
Stephanie Tilly
Clarenville, Newfoundland
Instagram:
Hi there, I’m Stephanie Tilley and I’m a small business owner and an avid outdoor enthusiast from Clarenville Newfoundland. I enjoy the outdoors and sharing those experiences with my family and friends. I have always spent my time skiing, running, paddling, hiking, and now I share that passion for the outdoors with my husband and kids. I love watching the kids desire for adventure grow as we spend time together learning new activities and developing new skills and confidence. The benefits are endless. The social aspect is what I love most. Connecting with new people, and the feeling of community that comes from a group of like-minded individuals having fun in the outdoors. Last year I conquered the Cape to Cabot Road race that has been on my bucket list for a long time. These days I enjoy volunteering with our local ski club, downhill skiing with my family and running with my dog Millie. This year I’m aiming for another half marathon and lots of adventure.
Courtney Walsh
Paradise, Newfoundland
Hi! My name is Courtney Walsh and I’m an Ophthalmic Technician who lives in Paradise, NL with my husband and three boys. We are a very outdoorsy family who enjoy all things nature (camping, hiking, swimming, boil ups, frog catching etc) I’m a member of my towns running group, Paradise Running Club and our local NL Trail running community group. If anyone knows me, knows how much I love socializing. Whether it’s before a race, during a race, or after a race… I’m chatting.. with anyone willing to chat. lol!
I love volunteering for events, sharing and promoting and giving that person an extra push to sign up for something outside their comfort zone. I enjoy watching people succeed and hit their goals and am genuinely so happy for them. I got involved in trail running after my husband signed up for a few races and I tagged along to cheer him on. That escalated to following him around for his long runs feeding him mary browns, which turned into crewing him for UTMB in Chamonix! I started trail running myself and now have ran 4 Ultra Marathons and 1 backyard ultra with 12 loops! I would love to do an out of province ultra next. Bucket-list would be Squamish 50/50.
Fun fact about me is that I co-own and teach a Not for Profit Irish/Newfoundland tap dancing group that teaches dance to kids free of charge. It’s called the St Pats Dancers and the group is almost 100 years old and is very special to me and my family.
Robyn Wright
